I’m Simon, a man in his early 30’s, a husband, a father, a club runner and I own a bicycle. What you have stumbled upon here is my blog about all things running.
I ran a lot when I was at school and at that time I was fairly good at it representing at county level numerous times. After a long break I got back into running again wishing all the time I had done it sooner.
My journey started in 2010, a new venture was starting in a local park which is now widespread throughout the world, this small venture was Parkrun. When I started I couldn’t run the full 5k in one go, I spent two years attending when I could and attempting to break a PB every time.
In 2012 I joined a local running club which I have been a member of ever since then. I compete in both road racing and cross country for the club.
In 2014 I ran my first marathon at Chester and in 2015 I spent the majority of the year injured and putting on weight, I refer to this year as my ‘gap year’.
In 2016 after gaining three stone from my ‘gap year’ I also gained a place in the London marathon, after lots of hard work I lost three and a half stone, beat my previous marathon pb by 30mins and went on to win the clubs mens road race league trophy.
So what is the purpose of this blog? Well hopefully it will make you want to put on a pair of running trainers and go out the door, maybe we could all learn a thing or two or maybe my random things I think about when I run will just make you laugh. Whatever it is that has bought you here and made you read to this bit, please leave a comment or contact me with your thoughts. Maybe it will end up something I think about next time I’m out there.
